What
can massage do for me?
Regular massage is a wonderful addition to anyone’s health maintenance
plan. Massage and bodywork can help release muscular tension and pain,
increase circulation and provide an overall feeling of health and well-being. It
can help you temporarily forget about your bad day at work, the shoes your new
puppy just chewed up, or the speeding ticket your son received three days after
he got his license.
Are there times when massage is not advised?
Yes! If you are or have recently been ill, please stay home and get
well! I will be very happy to reschedule your appointment. As you
can imagine, due to the nature of massage therapy, the likelihood of passing
on an illness is fairly high. Also, if you have experienced a recent injury,
please call as soon as you can before your appointment. Depending on the
nature and time of your injury, massage may be inadvisable.
What parts of my body will be massaged?
You and I will discuss the desired outcome for your session. This will
determine which parts of your body require massage. A typical full body
session will include work on your back, arms, legs, feet, hands, head, neck and
shoulders. This does not, and will never, include breasts or genitals.
When should I arrive for my appointment?
Please try to arrive ten to fifteen minutes prior to your scheduled time, particularly
if you are a new client. We will need that time to discuss your current
situation, any health concerns and a treatment plan. That way we will be
able to begin the session at the scheduled time.
If you are late, I will do my best to accommodate the full appointment time. This is not always possible, though, and treatment will be adjusted for the remaining time. Payment, however, will not be adjusted.
What should I do before the massage?
As I mentioned before, please try to arrive a little earlier than your scheduled
time. Also, some people find that they have a somewhat adverse reaction to
massage on a full stomach. Therefore, I recommend you not eat a heavy meal
within an hour of our appointment.
What should I do during the massage?
Relax! Your comfort is of utmost importance. During the massage,
I will occasionally check with you to make sure you are comfortable and happy
with the pressure I am using. Otherwise, please let me know at any time
if there is anything – music, pressure, temperature, etc. – you would like
modified. Remember, this is your massage, but I can’t read your mind!
Must I be completely undressed?
Most massage and bodywork techniques are traditionally performed with the client
unclothed; however, it is entirely up to you what you want to wear. You
should undress to your level of comfort. You will be properly draped at
all times, exposing only the area being worked on. In the case of Muscle Release Techniquesm, many techniques may be easily done wearing a tank top and shorts.
Policies
I am a professional and ethical massage therapist. I will treat you with
the utmost respect and expect the same from clients. Sexual conduct of
any kind will not be tolerated and will result in termination of the session,
full payment due.
